to develop carer friendly employment practices

Project Summary
Support:
  • We reach out to (hidden) carers and provide support in the form of information, advice, support and if appropriate, assessment.
  • We empower and assist carers in solving the many problems associated with caring which act as a deterrent to them looking after thier own interests and developing thier skill/employment options.
  • We work with carers who have given up work to care.
  • We work with carers who are combining a working role with caring.
Training
  • We develope links with local education and training providers and identify unmet need.
  • We encourage training providers to offer and develop flexible training and learning packages.
  • We inform training providers and learning partnerships about gaps in the provision for education, training and employment.
  • We undertake initial assessment for basic, key and ICT needs and refer to mainstream training provision or assist in develpoment of tailor made learning packages.
Development
  • We visit local employers to raise awareness of the value of recruiting and retaining carers.
  • We raise awareness of current policy and guidance on employment for carers and encourage local employers to establish/develope carer friendly employment practices as a means of retaining carers in the workforce.
  • We diseminate good practice and lessons learned to employers and interested parties.
